The Nutcracker

Mom took Mariska/Michelle, Kathy/Brianna and Audrey & I to the Nutcracker again this year. We started out with lunch at The Onion and then browsed Auntie's Bookstore until it was time to walk over to the performance. This year the Spokane Symphony was joined by the Memphis Ballet, which was a nice change. It is always good to see different costumes, choreography and interpretations. A couple of the differences I noticed were: The Rat King was friendly - he waved at the audience when he first came in and then did an Elvis impersonation when he was dying and then waved again before he closed his eyes. This production included the lady with the little bon-bons that come out from her skirt. When the Nutcracker and Clara head off in the sleigh, they actually raised it up as it travelled, which was a very cool effect. Thanks Mom for a great day!
