Anniversary Celebration

We decided to "get-away" to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. We went downtown and stayed at the Montvale Hotel, located just south of the restored Fox Theatre. It is a boutique hotel that was originally built in 1899. It was purchased in 1996 to start restoration and finally opened for hotel business in January 2005. We had a weekend package that included a 1-night stay, dinner for two at Catacombs Pub, 2 AMC movie passes, complimentary valet parking and a full continental breakfast. We had a wonderful time enjoying each others' company. We got to the hotel early and settled into the room, then walked a few blocks to the AMC theaters. After our movie we headed back to the hotel and then went to dinner. Catacombs restaurant is located in what once was the boiler room of the Montvale Hotel. Coal was delivered through the coal chute, which is now the "cave" seating area on the pub's east end. This was where we sat to enjoy our meal. It was great as no one was seated in this area for the majority of our stay, so we got the "cave" to ourselves. Dinner was delicious, the movie was funny, the hotel was relaxing and the company was awesome. What a wonderful way to celebrate together!!
