Surrogates

The movie Surrogates = makes you think! That was our choice for our movie event today as a family. Had a good time downtown shopping, seeing the movie and then stopping for lunch at our favorite downtown place, Sawtooth Grill.

More Basement

When we had the sewer stuff done, one of the things we had to do was re-route the plumbing from going to the back of the house so that it went out the front instead. Because of that we had to take everything out of the washroom, out from under the stairs and out of the fruit room and re-locate it else where in the house. Most of the food is hiding behind the couches in this picture, but some items are in my music room because they would not all fit with the dryer and washer too. It felt like forever because of the plumbing prep-work and then waiting for the sewer appointment and having to step over things or dig to find things, but it probably was only that way for four weeks. I do like things tidy (really?), so it was great to put everything back into the fruit room. We added a few more shelves to better utilize the space. Doesn't it look nice??

Braces

Audrey got her braces today. Sorry, no pictures. You would not be able to tell anyway since she is doing the invisaliners. That means she can pop them out whenever she wants, and since they are clear, you really cannot tell when they are in.

Canadian Brass & Shoes...

Mom and I went to the Spokane Symphony Pops concert tonight featuring The Canadian Brass. All the Pops concerts are now at the Fox, a truly beautiful venue. The Canadian Brass were very entertaining, good music, funny jokes and of course they wore their trademark = tennis shoes. Speaking of shoes... I wore some sandals tonight and about half way through the evening they started feeling odd when I walked. The bottom had started to break off from the top portion of the shoe - but not all the way (yet). I looked a little goofy as it continued to break off while I was going to get a drink of water. I got to the point where trying to walk-slide & not lift my foot off the carpet was not working, so I bent down and picked up both pieces of shoe (while still wearing the other one). Yup, cannot take me anywhere!! I hobbled one-shoe-ed to the Symphony office and found a very helpful man who located double sided tape and some rubber bands. After a little bit of MacGyver-like work, problem solved!!

Welder in Action

Tonight they had an open house at the skills center so we got to see Audrey the welder in action:

Sewer!

Not sure why we were excited to (a) dig up our yard & basement, (b) pay a huge fee to both the County and the sewer hook up company and then (c) sign up to pay for sewer every month for the rest of our life? But we did it! We have had a cesspool that was original to the house (1939) and we have not had any problems what-so-ever with it. However, we did not want it to fail in the middle of the winter when we could not calmly gather bids. We decided on a company and were extremely pleased with the results. They showed up at 6:45am in a literal convoy - big, big trucks with all sorts of heavy equipment chugging down our street as Audrey and I headed to school/work. John got to stay home and do his part (attach the plumbing) and make sure all went well. I called home around noon. They had already finished! (That included cutting a large trench in our basement cement floor, boring under the house & lawn to the street, cutting up the lawn/dirt, hooking up to the sewer, re-pouring the cement floor, putting the sod back on the lawn and cleaning up their mess.)

Weblos

John was released as the Sunday School teacher for Audrey's age today and is now the Weblos leader for our ward. A fun change for him. Now I'm going to head to the scout office and get him a shirt and all the patches.
